RISK FACTORS
You should remember that the value of investments, and the income from them, may go down as well as up, and is not guaranteed. Investors may not get back the amount of money invested. Past performance cannot be relied on as a guide to future performance.
Exchange rate changes may cause the value of overseas investments or investments denominated in different currencies to rise or fall.
Existing tax levels and reliefs may change and the value of reliefs depend on personal circumstances.
The Company will largely be investing in smaller companies whose shares are not publicly traded or are traded on smaller listed markets. Markets for smaller quoted and private companies are often less liquid and there may be difficulties in valuing and disposing of investments in such companies. Accordingly, realisations from investments in smaller traded and private companies may not yield the level of returns anticipated when making an investment.
Investments made by a venture capital trust will normally be in companies whose securities are not publicly traded or fully marketable and may therefore be difficult to realise. An investment in a venture capital trust carries a higher risk than many other forms of investment. In the event of a venture capital trust losing its HM Revenue & Customs approval, it is likely that its shares will become illiquid. The Company cannot guarantee any venture capital trust will continue to qualify as a venture capital trust for tax purposes. A failure to meet the qualifying requirements could result in the venture capital trust losing any tax reliefs previously obtained, resulting in adverse tax consequences for any persons who have invested in it, including a requirement to repay any income tax relief obtained by an investor on subscription.
